Harry Maguire captains Leicester in friendly against Cambridge amid mounting Man Utd speculation

Manchester United target Harry Maguire has been named in Leicester's line-up for their friendly with Cambridge United.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a £80 million move to Old Trafford, with arch rivals Manchester City also interested.

But it seems Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers is happy to select Maguire while he remains a Leicester player, having played in each of the last two friendlies.

Rodgers has also picked Maguire as his captain for tonight's match.

With the Premier League season under three weeks away, time is running out for the two clubs to agree a fee for the England international.

United have tabled a £70 million bid for Maguire, and while Leicester have rejected the offer, the Red Devils believe the size of the bid should kill off City’s interest in the England international.

Progress has slowed somewhat with the United squad on their pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East, but recent reports claim an agreement could be close over a deal worth up to £80m.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Maguire can help transform his defence alongside Victor Lindelof.

Maguire has overtaken Kalidou Koulibaly as Solskjaer’s primary target in central defence, given the Norwegian’s drive towards domestic talent.
