Harry Maguire could not hide his delight when asked about his verdict on Manchester United signing his fellow England teammate Jadon Sancho.
After a length pursuit of the 21-year-old Dortmund winger, the Red Devils finally confirmed earlier this week that they had reached an agreement with the Bundesliga club to sign the player for a fee of £73m.
Sancho will pen his contract at the end of the Euros, and is expected to wear the fabled No.7 shirt at Old Trafford.
Maguire was asked what he made of the news ahead of the Three Lions' Euros quarter-final against Ukraine on Saturday, and was highly positive about the imminent transfer.
"When he does sign, I’m sure he’s going to have a great career for United and be a big part of us being successful in the future," Maguire said.
"Jadon’s a top player. He has exceptional talent even though he is still really young, although he has played so many games.
"We’ve got some exceptional talent in his position in this England team so Jadon will bide his time, be patient and be ready when his opportunity comes.
"I’ve been really impressed with the way he has been working in training. He’s really putting a shift in day in day out.
"He has some great talent. He is scoring goals in the five-a-sides and so on. He’s a great lad."
Sancho has so far played just six minutes in the Euros so far at the end of England's win over Czech Republic, and has been left kicking his heels on the touchline as the likes of Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka have been selected in his place.
However, he is expected to be handed a huge opportunity to shine in Rome, with rumours suggesting he will start the game against Ukraine.
With Saka struggling with a minor injury, reports claim that Sancho will come in in the Arsenal man's place, and he will no doubt be desperate to seize his opportunity with both hands.
If England manage to see off Ukraine they will face either Czech Republic or Denmark at Wembley in the last-four on Wednesday, with a place in the final getting tantalisingly closer.
