Harry Maguire arrest 'over row with Albanian gangster types' after sister's 'rejection'

Harry Maguire was allegedly arrested following a fight with 'Albanian gangster types' after one of them was rejected by his sister, according to a report from The Sun.

The Man Utd captain was locked up by police on the Greek isle of Mykonos as a result of the incident in which his sister, Daisy, is said to have been stabbed in the arm with a metal straw.

As per The Sun's report, Daisy was approached by a group of Albanian men - described as 'Gangster types' - in a bar on Thursday night, one of whom took a particular shine to her.

However after Daisy rejected his advances things turned nasty, as the man is believed to have stabbed the straw into her arm, drawing blood in the process and causing her to feint.

Maguire was also in the bar with partner Fern and quickly intervened.

A source told The Sun: “Harry saw what was happening and remonstrated with them and things got heated.

“He decided to try to get out of there and wanted to hail a taxi. But he ended up arguing with some undercover police officers and ended up at the local police station.”

Maguire had been holidaying in Mykonos where just the day prior he was supposedly taunted by a group of boozy Brits.

After spending the night following his arrest in a detention centre in Mykonos, he was then ferried across to neighbouring island Syros where he was put behind bars for another night.

The England ace has since returned to the UK after being bailed having pleaded not guilty to various charges related to assault, verbal abuse and bribery.

His case will be heard on Tuesday though Maguire does not have to attend.

Maguire is now set for showdown talks with England boss Gareth Southgate over the incident ahead of the announcement of the next Three Lions squad, also on Tuesday.

Southgate will name a 27-man squad for the fixtures with Iceland and Denmark taking place at the beginning of September.
