Harry Kane ‘would make Man United title challengers’ and Tottenham would ‘snap their hand off’ at £200m

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich believes Harry Kane would turn Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side into title contenders, and is sure that Tottenham would ‘snap their hand off’ if a £200million bid came in.

Reports emerged over the weekend claiming that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had set the world record fee as his asking price for the England captain.

Standard Sport understands the club hope to keep Kane this summer and have no plans to sell him to a domestic rival.

Despite those intentions, however, Bosnich is convinced that given Tottenham’s current financial situation, an offer of that magnitude would be too good to turn down.

“Tottenham have paid for their own stadium – a massive amount,” he told Sky Sports. “And with the Covid-19 situation all the chips are in the air for everyone.

“If they were offered that money, I’m quite certain that regardless of what Daniel Levy has said, he would snap Manchester United’s hand off.

“But I don’t think Manchester United will go that far in terms of offering that kind of money, especially in the present situation.”

Such an astronomical fee could well prove beyond United, but Bosnich believes that if a deal could be done, the 26-year-old’s arrival would be transformative.

Asked whether signing Kane would turn United into genuine title contenders next season, Bosnich said: “I think it would. There’s no doubt that Harry Kane is one of the greatest strikers in the world of his generation. We’ve seen that consistently, in the Champions League and playing for England.

“I really don’t think at this stage, with the doubt that’s surrounding the whole competition that they would go that far. They might do it at a reduced price, there’s no doubt about that.”
