Harry Kane 'will leave' Tottenham but Man United will have to pay £200m, says former Everton man

It is "inevitable" that Harry Kane will leave Tottenham.

That is the worrying view for Tottenham fans from former Evertnon and West Ham striker Tony Cottee.

Kane set the cat amongst the pigeons earlier in the lockdown procedure when he took part in an interview with former Tottenham man Jamie Redknapp on Instagram Live.

The frontman has always stated that he is happy at Spurs as long as the club is moving in the right direction and fulfilling his ambitions as a player. And he reiterated that during the Instagram Live, saying that he loved Spurs, but would not "stay for the sake of it".

Alasdair Gold on Tottenham's most exciting prospects

The 2019/20 campaign has been the first since Kane has been involved with the first team that Spurs have not moved forward, with Mauricio Pochettino being sacked earlier in the campaign and Jose Mourinho coming in but failing to turn the table sufficiently to get the Lilywhites into Champions League contention.

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Kane, although chairman Daniel Levy has no intention of selling to a direct Premier League rival, for the reported £200m figure or otherwise.

But Cottee believes Kane will leave Tottenham, maybe not this season, but next year.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "You want that feeling of winning the Premier League or Champions League and at the moment I can't see him doing that at Spurs.

"I think it's inevitable, if it doesn't happen in the next year or so, I think Harry will leave - probably next summer.

"We saw [Kylian] Mbappe and Neymar go for huge amounts of money. Is Harry Kane worth that? Yes he is, he's a goalscorer.

"Every club wants a goalscorer. He's obviously been linked heavily with Manchester United, another fantastic football club.

"If Harry was to go there you would expect him to score the goals to take Manchester United to the next level.

"For them, that is to try and regain that Premier League crown and to try and be more dominant in Europe again. I think Harry could do that for them.

"In the current market, if other players are worth what they paid for them, then Harry Kane, for me, is worth £200m all day long."
