Harry Kane wife's cheeky request when England captain scores a hat-trick

While the whole of England is invested in his goalscoring record, Harry Kane's wife has other things on her mind. The Three Lions caption has become a household name thanks to him impressive goal record, hitting the back of the net a remarkable 51 goals in 76 games for his country. But each time he scores a hat-trick, his childhood sweetheart brings him back down to earth by asking him to make her a cup of tea when they get home.

Kane's wife, Katie Goodland, joked that no matter what has happened on the pitch, she sees him as the same man she met in childhood. They both attended Larkswood Primary in East London, before moving on together to Chingford Foundation School for their secondary education, which was also attended by David Beckham.

He told Esquire : "She brings me back down to earth. If I score a hat-trick, Kate will say, 'Well done, you can make me a cup of tea when you get home'. She's not afraid to take the mickey out of herself or me."

Katie has watched Harry's career blossom over the years, and was there with him through his rocky start which saw him rejected from Arsenal as a child for being "too chubby".

Liam Brady, then head of the kids' team, called Harry "a bit chubby" and "not very athletic" - though he has since admitted they made an error of judgement.

But this didn't deter Harry and he went on to trial for Tottenham Hotspur. Though he was initially rejected, he returned and was promoted to the senior team when he was just 16.

Following loan spells at Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich and Leicester, Harry broke into Spurs' first team and has been flourishing as one of the Premier League and nation's top goalscorers, winning the Golden Boot at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Of his family's connection to football, Harry has explained: "I think the sporting genes come from my Mum's side of the family although the topic is a hot debate in the Kane household.

"Dad probably won't like me saying that, but I think my granddad Eric on my Mum's side was quite a good footballer, and played at a decent level."

Katie's career has not been dissimilar, as she is a fitness instructor who graduated with a sports science degree.

And the doting dad has not let reaching the heights of professional football distract him from family life either.

Harry and Katie have three children, Ivy, Vivienne, and Louis.

Harry even announced he had married his "best friend" when the pair exchanged vows in an exotic location, which they managed to keep secret.

After popping the question while on holiday in the Bahamas in July 2017, Harry revealed the good news on Twitter at the time, posting: "She said yes!"

The Tottenham striker celebrated his joyous day by posting this message: "Finally got to marry my Best Friend! I love you."

Harry added in his Esquire interview: "She's been with me when I've been successful; she's been with me when I've been struggling or had injuries.

"When I feel bad about something, or when I need to get something off my chest, I can just turn to her and talk about anything.

"By being open it just allows me to form a stronger bond with her."

In 2020, the couple announced they were set to welcome their third child, a brother for their two daughters, just days after the Tottenham player scored his 200th club goal.

And when Louis Harry Kane was born, Harry tweeted: "Our beautiful boy has arrived. 29/12/2020. Louis Harry Kane. I couldn't be more proud of my wife Kate.

"Special way to finish the year. Happy new year everyone."

Vivienne's birth was marked with another sweet message as Harry tweeted: Our beautiful addition to the family! Vivienne Jane Kane. So proud of Kate Goodland for having the most amazing water birth with no pain relief at all. #mygirls #hypnobirthing".

He posted a photo of Vivienne and mum Katie on Instagram, too, captioning it: "#mygirls".

And the couple announced the birth of their daughter with a touching social media post in January 2017, where Harry posted a tender photo of his family.

Mum and dad were both kissing Ivy with Harry writing alongside the photo: "Our beautiful baby girl Ivy."

Katie had opted for a water birth, and wrote about her experience on her own social media accounts.

She wrote: "Our beautiful hypnobirthed [sic] baby girl Ivy.

"Being a first time mum, I was very scared about labour and was recommended to try hypnobirthing [sic].

“We had an amazing water birth with no pain relief or gas and air and Harry was an incredible birthing partner."
