Former Premier League Golden Boot winner Kevin Phillips believes Harry Kane would be a "wonderful fit" for Manchester United.
Standard Sport understands United are keen on doing a deal for Kane this summer, and would not be put off by Tottenham's £200million valuation.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to add to his frontline, and continues to monitor Erling Haaland's situation at Borussia Sortmund while a permanent deal for Odion Ighalo remains a possibility.
Spurs remain adamant Kane is not for sale, but the England captain himself opened the door to a move during an Instagram Live chat earlier this month
He has won two Premier League Golden Boots but has narrowly missed out on silverware at Spurs, reaching the League Cup final in 2015 and finishing a runner-up in the Champions League last season.
Phillips says now is the time for Kane to start winning trophies.
"Losing the UCL final last year, Tottenham moving into their new stadium, I felt it's time now for Tottenham to win a trophy, but for Harry Kane as well," he told Sky Sports.
"He's won Golden Boots, but now it's time for a players of his quality to win Championships, Champions Leagues, Cups.
"It would be a shame if he was to miss out on that in his career.
"I think Harry Kane mooted going to Manchester United, of course he would be a wonderful fit for them and that would make Manchester United challengers for the Premier League next season."
