Harry Kane: Tottenham bounce under Jose Mourinho key to beating Chelsea

Harry Kane has urged Tottenham to build on their new manager bounce and maintain the momentum during the festive period, starting with Sunday’s massive London derby against Chelsea.

Sunday’s last-gasp win at Wolves was Spurs’ fifth victory in six League matches under Jose Mourinho and they can leapfrog the Blues into the Premier League top four this weekend, having reduced the gap from 12 points to three since the Portuguese’s appointment.

After Chelsea, they host Brighton on Boxing Day before trips to Norwich on December 28 and Southampton on New Year’s Day.

Kane said: “We have the momentum at the moment. But next weekend is the big one. If we can win that and push into the top four, then we have fixtures over the Christmas period that we feel we can definitely win.

“Whenever a new manager comes in, everyone’s ready, wants to work, wants to impress. But it’s important that we carry it on.”

Kane added: “Even before Chelsea’s defeat on Saturday, we said it’s two important games. We knew how much it meant to win at Wolves and with Chelsea losing the day before it meant even more.”

Mourinho will be the centre of attention against the club he won three Premier League titles with.

Kane said: “Mourinho’s got his own style. For me, it is about learning that way. He’s one of the highest level managers in our sport, so I can only learn from him.”
