Harry Kane told to make Manchester United transfer decision by man who made same Tottenham move

Harry Kane has become a Totteham legend in a few short seasons.

The striker is well on the way to becoming the Premier League's all-time top scorer, and England's all-time top scorer too.

He is the captain of his country and Tottenham's record scorer in the Premier League.

The supporters chant 'he's one of our own' at every match and he is a firm fans' favourite.

But will he go on to be a true one-club man, or will he be tempted to move elsewhere?

Kane is a Spurs fan, growing up with the club and has made no secret of his desire to win trophies with the club. But his desire to win trophies at all could see him leave the club.

The frontman has always stated that as long as the club is moving in the right direction and matching his ambitions, he would not feel the need to move elsewhere, but after tough campaign, in which Mauricio Pochettino was sacked and Jose Mourinho took over, there are concerns for the first time that the club could be forced to sell their prized asset.

Speaking during an Instagram Live with Jamie Redknapp, Kane admitted he was not one to "stay for the sake of it".

Manchester United have long been linked with a move for Kane, and former Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov, who made the move from N17 to Old Trafford during his career, has told Kane to make the "tough decision" to move.

Speaking on BBC 5Live, he said: "The final step for me was joining Manchester United and I knew I would be making people disappointed – especially Tottenham fans – but I was following my own path.

"I knew if I missed that chance another one might not come. This is how it is in football. Sometimes you need to make tough decisions.

"The same situation is happening with Harry Kane at the moment, the exact same. He’s in the same situation as I was in as he has started asking questions and maybe his head is not in the right place. My head was not in the right place.

"It was the same with [Christian] Eriksen. He wasn’t really there in the last couple of games. I watched the games and I saw that his head was not there.’

"Kane is in the same situation. If there is any truth in the rumours, it’s in his head, 100 per cent. The lack of trophies is the main problem for players like Kane. He’s not getting any younger. He wants to look back and know he won trophies.

"When I see Spurs play United now, even if on paper Spurs have better players, they still go there with fear."
