Harry Kane told he is "best suited" to Man Utd transfer rather than Man City move

Micah Richards believes that Harry Kane would be better off moving to Manchester United above their bitter rivals Manchester City if he is to leave Tottenham this summer.

Speculation over the England striker's future is mounting amid rumours that he has told the club that he wishes to move on at the end of the season.

The two Manchester clubs, along with Chelsea, are among those being most strongly linked with a big-money bid for the 27-year-old.

But speaking on Sky Sports ahead of potentially Kane's final home game for Spurs against Aston Villa, Richards stated his belief that his former side City may well go for Erling Haaland instead - and thinks Kane is "best suited" to United.

" I think it all comes down to how much the price is. £100million?" Richards said.

"I don’t want to talk on behalf of Man City or Man United, but I think £100m, they could do. When you start talking about £150m, it makes no sense to do that.

"He’s what, 27, 28? You’ve got Haaland who is 20, or 21 - that’s a bigger investment for the club because you’ve got so many years. (But) With Harry Kane, you’re going to get ready-made success.

"I think he’s best suited to Man United, I know (Edinson) Cavani has signed an extension there. £150m is too much, after the pandemic with everything that has happened - it’s too much money."

It remains to be seen how much money it would take for Spurs to cash in on Kane, but with his contract not set to expire until 2024, and with their chairman Daniel Levy a notoriously canny operator, he would certainly not come cheap.

Kane is well in the running for the Premier League Golden Boot with two games of the season to go having scored 22 goals so far, and he also sits top of the table for assists having created 13 in the current campaign.
