Harry Kane 'out for a few weeks' after suffering another ankle injury in Tottenham vs Liverpool

Tottenham have been left sweating on an injury to talisman Harry Kane.

The striker picked up a worrying looking ankle injury during the first half of Spurs' game with Liverpool at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Kane carried on until half-time but was hauled off at the break, replaced by Erik Lamela.

Kane has a history of ankle injuries and it will be real concern for Jose Mourinho and Spurs fans.

The England captain suffered two ankle injuries in the 2016/17 season and then another in the 2017/18 campaign. He tore his ankle ligaments the following year.

He missed 16 games last season, with the coronavirus pandemic and break from football allowing him the opportunity to return to action at the end of the campaign.

And BBC 5 Live reporter Alistair Bruce-Ball said that Kane could be out for a "few weeks".

Sending the news out on Twitter, Bruce-Ball said: "This is not what @SpursOfficial fans want to hear....Jose Mourinho has just told me that Harry Kane is likely to be out for a few weeks having taken knocks to both ankles."

In his post match press conference, Mourinho said: "For Harry to leave a game, when he wants to play always and with the team losing, for Harry to come out is not a nothing injury. It's an injury. For how long I can't tell you, I don't know. We have to wait and see."
