Harry Kane sends warning to Tottenham teammates as Arsenal take fourth spot

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has fired a warning to the rest of his teammates after his side dropped more points in their race for the top four following Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Brentford.

The result followed up a 1-0 defeat at home to Brighton & Hove Albion and following Arsenal ’s 4-2 victory over Chelsea in their game in hand last week, the Gunners then climbed back into the top four with a 3-1 win over Manchester United at the weekend.

Spurs are now two points behind in fifth, while they still need to play the rearranged north London derby, and Kane has warned his team that they cannot afford any more slip ups for the rest of the season.

He told the Evening Standard : "To only get one point from those two games [Brighton and Brentford] is disappointing. We're running out of games in terms of dropping points. There are five games left and we feel like we are pretty much going to have to win all of them to get that spot. We are more than capable of doing that, we believe in that and that is what we'll try and do.”

With Man Utd slipping up against Liverpool and Arsenal in their last two games, the Red Devils seem all but out of the top four race, while Chelsea should still secure third spot, leaving it down to the two north London clubs to fight for the final Champions League place.

But Spurs must still face Liverpool before they play their winner-takes-all clash with the Gunners in just over two weeks. Their top four hopes could be significantly dented by the time they play their final two games of the season, yet Kane believes his side are capable of getting over the line.

He said: "Is it still in our hands? Yeah. If we win the last five games we will be in the Champions League, so that is how we've got to look at it. We know those five games will be difficult, we go to Liverpool away as well which will be very tough.

“As we've seen this season, we have dropped points against teams where we were probably expected to win and so have the others around us. It is by all means not done yet. I think we've done great to put ourselves in this position we're in now but it is about who can finish it off.

“We have to stay focused and keep working hard. We have a little gap now to prepare and work and hopefully we can put in a good performance against Leicester."

Leicester travel to Spurs on Sunday in between their two-legged UEFA Europa Conference League semi-final with Eintracht Frankfurt, which could work in Tottenham ’s favour, while Arsenal face a tricky test away at West Ham.

Yet things then swing back in Arsenal’s favour when they host Leeds United the following week, while Spurs travel to title-chasing Liverpool. By the time the two play each other on May 12, they could be on level points.
