Harry Kane says Premier League ‘more open’ than usual as Tottenham go top of table

Tottenham star Harry Kane says the Premier League is more open than usual after his side went top of the table with a statement win over Manchester City.

Goals from Heung-min Son and Giovani Lo Celso earned a 2-0 win over Pep Guardiola’s side, with Kane registering his ninth assist of the campaign in another man-of-the-match display.

Spurs will end the day top of the Premier League table for the first time in six years, though Leicester will usurp them if they beat Liverpool on Sunday.

The congested fixture list has already shown signs of making this year’s title race more competitive that in recent seasons, when Manchester City and Liverpool have surged well clear of the chasing pack by hardly dropping a point, and Kane agrees that any team string together a consistent run could challenge.

"It’s a season where you’ve got to do all it takes to win games,” Kane told Sky Sports. “It’s going to be an up and down year. There’s no better feeling when you win. We’ll enjoy it, but we know we’ve got a long way to go.

"We’re doing well, there’s still parts we can improve on. We’ve got a lot of tough games to go. It’s a more open league. Like any season, whoever can put a good spell together will have a good chance of winning."
