Harry Kane's controversial take on Liverpool after Spurs defeated at Anfield

Tottenham Hotspur captain Harry Kane believes that Liverpool are 'getting little breaks' as they cemented their place at the top of the Premier League with a 2-1 win over Spurs.

The Reds had gone behind after Kane headed in with just one minute on the clock.

Jordan Henderson fired Liverpool level after the break before Mohamed Salah won all three points as he smashed home a penalty in the second half.

Jurgen Klopp's side had 14 shots on target compared to Tottenham's four today and were well worth the win, responding with sustained spells of pressure after Kane's early goal.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Kane revealed where he thought the match was lost and made his claim about the Reds.

He said "Liverpool are getting those little breaks at the moment.

"It hurts to lose but we have to dust ourselves down.

"We made a great result but we dropped a little deep and soaked up the pressure.

"We had a big chance just after half time to go 2-0 up but unfortunately it hit the bar.

"We didn't try and play as much as we liked. If we could have played a bit more we could have created even more more chances for ourselves and finished the game off.

"We came out with the intention to play and press, and we did everything to try and win the game.

"Whenever you lose a game, it is never a step forward. Our league form has not been good enough."
