Harry Kane's big problem at Tottenham identified after Bournemouth stalemate

Harry Kane is playing far too deep for Tottenham and his role will be frustrating the midfielders in the team, Dion Dublin has stated.

Spurs were held to a goalless draw against relegation-threatened Bournemouth on Thursday and failed to register a single shot on target throughout the match.

That has brought Jose Mourinho's side under scrutiny and, assessing the match, Dublin has explained why Kane's role is a big issue.

“Look where Kane is, look where Kane is playing. He is playing in midfield. Looking up that is where he should be. He is looking up to try and find Kane and he is not there," he told Match of the Day.

“He did this for 70 per cent of the game. Look where he is. For me, it would be really frustrating if [fellow pundit] Tim Cahill was playing in midfield and looking up for his centre-forward and he is beside him.

“He is too deep and he is doing all his work in areas like this. He is trying to find a pass to his teammate and it doesn't go right.

“Then he has to tackle in midfield. By the time he gets into his own position, he is too tired. You play centre-forward and let your teammates around you do their job.”
