Harry Kane returns to action as Tottenham Hotspur transfer target is set to stay at Fiorentina

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Monday, August 23.

Harry Kane is back in a Spurs shirt

Spurs striker Harry Kane returned to action for the first time since the final day of the season in their 1-0 win at Wolves on Sunday afternoon.

The 28-year-old came on for the final 10 minutes as Nuno Espirito Santo's side held out for a narrow success thanks to Dele Alli's first-half penalty.

Kane was greeted with a positive reception by the Spurs fans despite his current transfer situation and he also went over to applaud the travelling faithful at the final whistle.

After the match, Espirito Santo shared his thoughts on the win and wants the whole of the club to come together, including Kane, who looks like he will be staying this season.

"I think he did well, he helped the team," he said.

"He had a good chance. Harry is still in the process of increasing and improving his level of fitness because he's one of the best players in the world.

Vlahovic set to stay at Fiorentina despite transfer interest

Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic looks like he will remain with Serie A this summer despite interest from a host of European clubs.

The Serbian has been linked with a move to the likes of Atletico Madrid, Manchester City and Spurs this summer, but his future is likely to be with the Italian club.

This is due to recent comments made by Fiorentina CEO Joe Bastore before their clash with Roma.

He told DAZN: "He will stay at Fiorentina this summer, he’s untouchable as our president already said.”

He scored 21 goals in 40 appearances last season and Fiorentina have reportedly opened up talks for Vlahovic to sign a contract extension, with his current deal set to run out in 2023.

Ronaldo makes major decision that could affect Kane's future

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly requested not to start for Juventus amid rumours that Manchester City are considering making a move as an alternative to Harry Kane.

The reigning Premier League champions have been linked with a move for the England captain throughout the summer, with Kane having expressed his desire for a new challenge.

As it stands, negotiations are at a stalemate, with Daniel Levy reportedly refusing to negotiate on his £150m valuation of the striker.

Should that remain the case, a move looks highly unlikely - this summer at the very least.

As a result, Pep Guardiola has been forced to consider alternatives to the Tottenham striker, with links to Vlahovic and surprisingly Cristiano Ronaldo being linked.

Kane's cameo in the win at Spurs could mean he is going to stay, with Manchester a likely destination after Ronaldo was left out of Juventus' clash with Udinese.
