Harry Kane returns - The Tottenham team Ryan Mason should pick vs Man City in Carabao Cup final

Ryan Mason will take charge of only his second match as a head coach and it happens to be the Carabao Cup final.

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City will do battle at Wembley on Sunday afternoon in front of a crowd of 8,000 people, with the final acting as one of the government's test events for the return of fans to large scale outdoor events.

For 29-year-old interim head coach Mason, he has the chance to begin his management career in spectacular fashion as he leads out Spurs at the national stadium.

Our Spurs reporters have named the team that they would like to see take on Pep Guardiola's men.

All eyes are on whether Harry Kane will be fit to face Manchester City.

Tottenham's talisman will want to do everything to play in a cup final - something that doesn't come along all that often for the north London club.

If he does not make it, or starts on the bench, then Lucas Moura or Son Heung-min are likely to get the nod once again to start in the most advanced role rather than Carlos Vinicius.

The question for Mason is whether he packs the midfield in order to gain more control of the centre of the park with Harry Winks or Moussa Sissoko coming into the team.

A switch a 4-3-3 might enable Spurs to do that as the young head coach will need to call upon Gareth Bale again with the Welshman again proving against Southampton that he can be a game changer.

However, the 31-year-old winger needs someone behind him to do the dirty work of tracking back.

In defence, the absence of Joe Rodon suggested Mason was giving his cup final back four a practice outing as the young Wales international is not available for Sunday, having played in the competition already for Swansea.

Gold's team: Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguilon; Winks, Hojbjerg, Ndombele; Bale, Kane, Son.

Mason faces some big calls with Tottenham having the chance to win some silverware on Sunday afternoon.

Harry Kane starts against Man City if he has recovered from the ankle injury he sustained at Everton but it then gets interesting if he's not fit.

Spurs could really do with a focal point upfront and that may mean Carlos Vinicius starts through the middle rather than Lucas Moura.

In midfield, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso really didn't help their case for a starting spot at Wembley with poor displays against Southampton and they could both pay the price.

Tottenham are going to need to keep possession and that could see Harry Winks start as he's good on the ball, while Erik Lamela may be the man to play at No.10 as he will put himself about and try and make things happen.

Perhaps massive calls to drop both Ndombele and Lo Celso, both can really have no complaints at present after a drop in form but they can still have huge parts to play off the bench.

Defence remains the same after Wednesday's late win over Southampton.

Guest's team: Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Winks; Bale, Lamela, Son; Kane
