Harry Kane provides fitness update ahead of Spurs' Champions League encounter vs Red Star Belgrade

Tottenham talisman Harry Kane has said that he has now returned to training following illness which kept him out of Premier League action.

The striker missed the 1-1 draw with Everton on Sunday afternoon due to illness. It was the only Premier League minutes that the 26-year-old had missed so far this season.

Kane has scored six goals in 10 Premier League appearances this campaign, but has also been in the goals in the Champions League, scoring four goals in Spurs three group B matches, including two in the 5-0 win vs Red Star Belgrade just two weeks ago.

Speaking ahead of the return fixture, the England skipper has given an update on his fitness.

“I feel good. Better than the weekend," he said.

"I came down with some kind of virus, but I’ve been back in training yesterday and I feel much better.”

The news will come as a welcome boost to Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham as they look to consolidate their place in second spot in group B of the Champions League.

Mauricio Pochettino full press conference ahead of Red Star clash

The 5-0 win against Red Star came as a welcome reprieve for Spurs and Kane is hopeful of another positive display against the Serbian team on wednesday.

“Hopefully we can win tomorrow night," he added.

"I’ve heard from a few players that the atmosphere is going to be tough and very hostile. We’ll do everything in our power to win the game.”
