Harry Kane posts positive surgery update as he watches Tottenham vs Liverpool

Harry Kane has boosted Tottenham fans by confirming that his surgery for a ruptured hamstring went "very well" on Saturday.

Kane suffered the injury during the 1-0 defeat at Southampton on New Year's Day, and Tottenham's worst fears were realised this week as the club announced that their star striker would be out until April.

The England captain required surgery after rupturing a tendon in his left hamstring while stretching for a ball, and his absence leaves Spurs short up front for the majority of the rest of the season.

It went without saying that Kane would miss Tottenham's huge Premier League clash against Liverpool on Saturday evening, but the forward was with his team-mates in spirit - and on social media, of course.

Soon after kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Kane posted a picture of himself watching the early stages of the game with the message: "Surgery went very well. First day of recovery starts now!"

Kane soon added another photo of himself in his hospital bed following the operation.

Given Kane's reputation for quick recovery from injuries, Spurs fans will be hoping for another return ahead of schedule.
