Harry Kane posts ankle injury update as Spurs wait on dramatic Champions League final return

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has posted an image to his Instagram account showing the 25-year-old resting as he seeks to recover from injury.

He suffered an ankle problem in his side's 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League to lay the foundations for Spurs to overcome the reigning Premier League champions in the quarter-finals of the elite European club competition.

After that game, the forward was spotted leaving the stadium on crutches with his foot strapped up with a support.

In the latest picture posted to his Instagram, Kane can be seen with his feet up and no visible strapping, supports or casts.

Ajax handed bizarre advantage over Spurs for Champions League semi-final clash

His manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has hinted that the England captain could make a shock return this season if Tottenham win a place in the Champions League final.

"He feels sad and disappointed like everyone at the club," said the Argentinian ahead of a Premier League win over Huddersfield Town last week.

"Of course it is a tough moment for him, tough moment for the team, tough moment for us.

"I was speaking to him before and we need to assess every day to properly answert to see when he can come back to train with the team.

"At the moment it is impossible to give a date. It is a similar injury to the one he suffered last time against Manchester United.

Liverpool lodge special request to move into Tottenham Hotspur's new stadium this summer

"If we are into the final of the Champions League, maybe he will play but we'll see. We need to assess him but of course he is not in a great place, which is normal after a few days."

Speaking after Tottenham's 4-3 loss to Manchester City, to secure a win on away goals, Pochettino added: "Still, we cannot say nothing.

"We are going to assess him day-by-day, we’ll see. We’re not optimistic but you know Harry Kane and with Harry Kane all is possible.

"We’re not going to say he won’t play again or not, we are going to assess him day-by-day."
