Harry Kane non-committal on Tottenham future and won't stay "for the sake of it"

Harry Kane has given cause for concern for Tottenham as he has come out to say that he will not stay at the north London club just 'for the sake of it.'

The England international has missed a majority of this year through injury, and he had aimed to get back perfect fitness in April, but this was before the coronavirus pandemic broke out and football was put on hold.

The striker has been linked with a move away for some time, with many of Europe's elite clubs interested.

Quizzed about his future, Kane said: "I've got another 10 years to play, hopefully a lot to give, hopefully, a few trophies as well."

But Kane stressed that he would not just hang around at Jose Mourinho's side out of loyalty, that he eventually wants to progress and lift silverware.

"It's one of those things - I couldn't tell you yes or no. I love Spurs, I've always loved Spurs.

"If I don't feel we're progressing as a team or going in the right direction I'm not one to stay there for the sake of it.

"I'm ambitious and want to improve and be a top, top player.

"It's not a definite I'm going to stay here forever but it's not a no either."

When asked which club he prefers out of Real Madrid and Barcelona, Kane replied: "That's a hard one. I like them both."

The 26-year-old has scored an incredible 181 goals in 278 games for the Lilywhites, having been at the side since 2009.

This season, Kane has maintained his brilliant scoring record, netting 17 times in 25 games, before injuring his hamstring on New Years Day against Southampton.

The player recently came to say that June should be the cut off point for this season, owing to the worldwide pandemic, saying on his Instagram to Jamie Redknapp: "My personal opinion, I think we need to try and finish the season, but there needs to a point where we say 'enough's enough' and we need to finish it... going into July or August.

"There needs to be a limit. The limit for me is the end of June. Then we have to look at the options and look ahead to next season. “
