Harry Kane names top defenders he has faced - including two Premier League stars

Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane can be a nightmare for defenders - but the feeling is mutual when he faces some top centre-backs.

And he has singled out four of the toughest he has faced throughout his career including a pair of Premier League stars.

Kane has labelled former Chelsea and England ace John Terry as the toughest he faced, singling out his intelligence and positioning as a stern test.

But he also ranks Sergio Ramos and Giorgio Chiellini amongst the very best - an honour for which Liverpool colossus Virgil van Dijk is currently in the frame.

Asked the best defender he has faced In an interview with SportBible, Kane responded: "John Terry.

"I played against him for a couple of years and he's just a really smart defender. Good positioning, used his body well, didn't let you make runs across.

"Sergio Ramos - very good, a complete player.

"I've also said Giorgio Chiellini [in the past], I played against Chiellini for Italy and Juventus.

“Then at the moment I think Virgil van Dijk is up there with one of the best as well."

Kane went on to single out Brazilian pair Marcelo and Dani Alves as the toughest full-backs he has faced.

Asked about full-backs, he replied: "Marcelo for Real Madrid. Fantastic left-back - his quality on the ball is amazing. Really, really special.

"Right-back? I played against Dani Alves in a pre-season game once and he's as good as you imagine - his resume is pretty much the best there is. I'm not in too much contact with the full-backs, because I'm not normally on the wings - but you still see their quality on the pitch, for sure.

"So a lot of tough defenders, but great for me to play against the best and improve my game from that."
