Harry Kane matches Jimmy Greaves goal record as Tottenham all-time top scorer

Harry Kane has matched Tottenham’s all-time record goalscorer of 266 goals, drawing level with club legend Jimmy Greaves.

The Spurs forward overtook Bobby Smith last February, and since then has continued his inevitable march to Greaves’ tally of 266 goals.

Kane moved level with the Tottenham great when he scored against Fulham on Monday evening.

It’s over a decade since Kane scored his first Tottenham goal, coming off the bench in the Europa League against Shamrock Rovers in December 2011 and scoring late on.

Three times he has won the Premier League Golden Boot, with 199 of his 266 Spurs goals coming in the League. He has scored 15 times in the FA Cup, on seven occasions in the League Cup and 45 times in Europe.

With just one more goal needed to break Greaves’ record, the Premier League goalscoring record will be the next target for Kane, with Alan Shearer’s mark of 260 goals likely to be within range in the next few seasons.

Kane’s brace against Crystal Palace took him to 198 top-flight goals earlier this month and saw him break the record for the most goals in 300 Premier League appearances with two more than Shearer managed in that period.

The Spurs striker is currently level with Wayne Rooney on 53 goals as England’s top goalscorer, and his club manager is confident many more records will come in the years ahead.
