Harry Kane "making progress" as injured Tottenham star steps up road to recovery

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has revealed he's "making progress" as he continues his injury recovery after undergoing surgery this month.

The England star suffered the hamstring injury during the 1-0 Premier League defeat at Southampton on New Year's Day.

Following tests, Tottenham confirmed specialists had advised an operation was needed, with Kane expected to return to training in April.

And it appears he remains on track for a return to action, with the English superstar already back in the gym and working on getting back on the pitch as soon as possible.

Kane posted a video of his a latest gym workout and said: "Working hard. Making progress."

As well as being unavailable for his club, Kane is now also set to miss international duty, with England having friendlies against Italy and Denmark at the end of March.

Should all go well in his recovery, it is expected the forward would be back to lead the Three Lions into Euro 2020 - if perhaps somewhat short of game time.

With Kane injured, Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho has been keen to add further attacking options to his ranks.

On Wednesday they signed Steven Bergwijn, who has signed a contract until 2025 and moves to north London for a fee believed to be in the region of £25million.

Bergwijn has nine Holland caps and becomes Tottenham's second permanent signing of the January window after the club converted Giovani Lo Celso's loan move into a full-time deal on Monday.

Last season's beaten Champions League finalists have also added Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes on loan, while Christian Eriksen has departed for Inter Milan.

In Kane's absence, Tottenham continue to be linked with a late move to bring in another striker with Chelsea's Olivier Giroud reportedly the latest target.
