Harry Kane makes Jordan Henderson prediction after Liverpool captain scores for England

Harry Kane has backed Jordan Henderson to go on a goalscoring run for England after the Liverpool captain scored his first international goal on Saturday.

The 31-year-old came off the bench to head home Mason Mount’s corner in Rome as the Three Lions thrashed Ukraine to set up a Euro 2020 semi-final clash with Denmark.

Henderson has had to wait a while for his maiden international goal, having claimed 62 caps since making his debut in November 2010, and has missed a penalty and seen an effort disallowed in recent weeks.

But with the midfielder now finally off the mark, Kane, who scored a brace himself, shared his delight for his England vice-captain when speaking to reporters after the game.

“I’m so happy for Jordan. It’s been a long time he’s been playing for England and I know he’s been desperate to score that goal,” he said.

“There’s no better place to do it, than a quarter-final of the European Championships so I’m delighted for him.

“I said before the tournament that he’s a great leader and a great role model to have in this team and this squad.

"He brings a lot to us, whether he’s playing or on the bench so it’s great for him to come on and great for him to score.

“Who knows, maybe he’ll go on a little run now. That’ll be nice.

"The boys are buzzing for him.

"He’s a top, top guy. I’ve known him for a long while and couldn’t be happier for him.”
