Harry Kane makes fitness admission after scoring first Tottenham goal in six months vs West Ham

Harry Kane has revealed that he is feeling as fit as he has done in a long time after scoring for Tottenham in their win over West Ham.

Kane scored his first Spurs goal for almost six months to secure a vital victory over their London rivals.

After a goalless first-half, Jose Mourinho’s side opened the scoring when Soucek turned a corner into his own net.

Kane then sealed all three points for his side after he was sent through by Son Heung-min before finishing past Lukasz Fabianski in the Hammers goal.

Jose Mourinho admits Steven Bergwijn wasn't first choice

“I think as a striker it is what you want to do. You want to help and yeah happy to get on the scoresheet,” the Spurs skipper told Sky Sports after the game.

“It took us a while as well to break them down. We had a few chances before we scored the first goal and it was nice to finish it off at the end.

“When you have been out for six months it is about getting that feeling back on the pitch. You can train as much as you want, but being out there is totally different.

“I probably should have scored one other but yeah it was nice to put that one away.

“I have been working very hard all through my rehab through lockdown. Then having the warm-up games leading to the first Premier League game.

“I feel as fit as I probably have done before. It has been a chance to rest and recover and work on a few things I haven’t been able to over the years.

“I am feeling in good shape. It is good because it could always be better, of course.

Before Kane added on his 200th appearance: “It goes so quick and I have been playing first-team football now for five or six years and the years just fly by.

“You have got to make the most of it and keep in as good shape as possible.

“I’m still only 26 and got plenty of years to go so hopefully I can get to that 200 mark sooner rather than later and see where we go from there.”
