Harry Kane lays out Tottenham pre-season plan as striker eagerly awaits first full season under Antonio Conte

Harry Kane says he is already looking forward to a full season under Antonio Conte at Tottenham as his mammoth campaign finally comes to an end.

Kane is set to lead England against Hungary at Molineux tonight in what will be his 62nd appearance of the season for club and country.

It has eventually been another successful season for the 28-year-old, helping Tottenham secure a Champions League return and closing on Wayne Rooney’s all-time goalscoring record at international level.

It began, however, in turbulent fashion, with his attempts to force a move away from Spurs rebuffed by Daniel Levy before Nuno Espirito Santo’s doomed tenure left the club in dire straits.

Conte’s appointment proved a transformative moment, however, and it is understood that Kane is now open to the prospect of signing a new contract at Spurs.

“First and foremost I am looking forward to getting away,” the England captain said, when asked about what is set to be a far more tranquil summer than the last.

“The plan is for me to head back around July 8 and head to [South] Korea with the boys [for Tottenham’s pre-season tour], and look forward to another season.

"I got on really well with Antonio in the time that he was there and I am looking forward to next season and what’s to come.”

The break will be a short one for Kane, with the new season starting early due to the scheduling headache provided by a winter World Cup in Qatar.

“I’m always one to keep on top of my fitness in the gym – I don’t think you can lose too much fitness in three weeks anyway,” he added.

“I think the most important time for me is recharging the batteries, spending some quality time with the family, and of course playing a bit of golf as well.”
