Harry Kane has heartfelt message for Mauricio Pochettino as Jose Mourinho takes charge at Spurs

Harry Kane has broken his silence after Mauricio Pochettino's exit from Tottenham last night (Tuesday).

The Argentine was sacked by Spurs last night with the club in 14th place in the Pemier League after a disappointing start to the new season.

The announcement came as a shock to some fans, coming less than six months after Pochettino had guided Tottenham to their first ever Champions League final.

But Pochettino has paid the price for some "extremely disappointing" results towards the end of last season, and at the beginning of this season, according to what Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said in the statement announcing his departure.

Pochettino has already been replaced by former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, who has been appointed as Spurs' new head coach on a deal until 2023.

Mourinho's arrival was announced at 6.30am this morning (Wednesday), less than 12 hours after Pochettino's exit was confirmed.

And Spurs striker Harry Kane has since posted a heartfelt message on social media to his former boss, following his exit from the club.

Posting on Instagram and Twitter, the Spurs and England star wrote: "Gaffer. I will be forever thankful to you for helping me achieve my dreams. We have had some amazing moments over the last 5 and a half years that I will never forget. You were my manager but my friend as well and I thank you for that relationship. Good luck with your next chapter!"

Kane has not, however, posted anything on social media about Mourinho's appointment.

The England captain is not the only Spurs player to have sent a message to Pochettino via social media, with Dele Alli also taking to Twitter last night to express his gratitude towards his former boss.
