Tottenham striker Harry Kane previously admitted that securing a move away from the club would ‘never be easy’.
The England captain’s future with Spurs looks increasingly uneasy having made his intentions to leave clear.
So far, a move has failed to come to fruition with the club’s chairman Daniel Levy understood to be not keen on selling.
Manchester City have been spoken up as potential suitors for Kane throughout the summer but are yet to meet Spurs’ lofty asking price for their star striker despite the 28-year-old having missed his return to training.
Kane himself previously warned that moving away from Tottenham is not easy to achieve considering the hard-bargaining of Daniel Levy - an aspect that has previously been displayed in deals that took Gareth Bale to Real Madrid in 2013 and Christian Eriksen to Inter Milan.
Talking on Amazon Prime’s All or Nothing documentary about the Dane’s departure, Kane said: "I guess that’s the business of football. I guess that’s the business of getting sold for the right price or getting bought for the right price.
"Because it’s never as easy as 'OK, you want to go, you can go', because that’s not the way it works."
Kane remains a Tottenham player with just over a week to go until the club kick-off their 2021/22 Premier League campaign ironically against Manchester City.
He still has three years left to run on his current contract in north London and is valued at £108million by transfermarkt - though Spurs will want significantly more than that if they are to part ways with the England captain.
Elsewhere, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has admitted that discussions will not take place with Spurs over Kane’s signature unless they are willing to engage in talks.
Speaking in a press conference, the Spaniard said: "He's a player for Tottenham Hotspur and if Tottenham don't want to negotiate, it's finished.
"If they are open to negotiate then not only Man City, many clubs in the world want to sign him, we are not an exception. It depends on Tottenham.
"Jack [Grealish] was different, he had a release clause and he is different. Harry Kane is an exceptional, extraordinary striker, no doubts about that. Of course we are interested in him but he is a Tottenham player and if they don't want to negotiate, nothing more to say and if they want it we will try, that's all."
