Harry Kane handed ultimate striker compliment as Joe Rodon opens up on Tottenham transfer

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Thursday, November 12.

Joe Rodon reveals how Spurs transfer happened

Summer signing Joe Rodon has revealed how his move to the club was finally sealed.

The 23-year-old Wales international had been strongly tipped to join the club throughout the summer, but the move wasn’t sealed until 11 days after the European transfer deadline day.

Spurs took advantage of the extension that allowed Premier League clubs to continue to do business with EFL clubs until October 16, when his switch from Swansea eventually went through.

"It was the first Monday, the first deadline was when it started to develop," the new recruit told reporters, as quoted by WalesOnline.

Jose Mourinho press conference following 1-0 win vs West Brom

"After Bulgaria it was basically non-stop. It was all kicking off. But I was delighted to get it over the line.

"It was quite hard, the Bulgaria game, in particular, was the hardest to concentrate.

"When I knew it was true and it was developing the way it was. It was quite hard to switch off. But we got the win and everything went well."

Here’s what he had to say said in full.

Tottenham tried to sign Kurt Zouma in the summer - reports

French outlet L’Equipe, as cited by Sport Witness, have claimed that Jose Mourinho was keen to reunite with Kurt Zouma over the summer.

The 26-year-old France international was in and out of the Chelsea team last season as Frank Lampard struggled to settle on a regular defensive partnership.

But he’s played a key role this season and appears to have established himself in their strongest starting line-up alongside new recruit Thiago Silva.

However, if reports are to be believed, he may have left Stamford Bridge, but the Blues rejected offers from both Spurs and Everton, where he had previously featured on loan.

The report went on to suggest that Zouma himself was open to the idea of a new challenge elsewhere.

Harry Kane is a “more complete” striker than Alan Shearer was

Italy legend Christian Vieri believes that Harry Kane’s style of play is not typical for an English striker.

The 47-year-old former Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan striker gave a recent Instagram Q+A, via The Spurs Web, in which he was asked his opinion on Tottenham’s star striker.

Kane has caught the eye for dropping a little deeper and turning provider this season, topping the Premier League assists chart with eight so far, while he’s also scored seven himself.

Shearer tops the all-time Premier League top scorers list with 260 goals - 52 more than Wayne Rooney in second place. Kane’s match-winning header against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday was his 150th Premier League goal, putting him ninth in the list, level with Michael Owen.

“Kane is the only Englishman who is not English (in his playing style),” said Vieri.

“He has the technique and sees the game.

“They say that Shearer was the strongest English striker. I can agree – but Kane is the most complete.”
