Harry Kane hails ‘best’ night at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after Arsenal thrashing

Harry Kane believes the atmosphere inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was “the best” in its history.

The England captain scored twice in a huge 3-0 win over Mikel Arteta’s side, closing the gap between the two to just one point.

Heung-min Son added a third seconds after the restart and Spurs could well have scored more, with Rob Holding sent off after only half an hour.

Kane had opened the scoring with a penalty after Cedric Soares was punished for a push on Son after 22 minutes and doubled Spurs’ lead with a stooping far-post header.

The Covid-19 pandemic had deprived Tottenham’s new stadium of nights like this and the first north London derby played in front of a full crowd there certainly did not disappoint from a Spurs perspective.

Antonio Conte’s side host relegation-threatened Burnley on Sunday and could move two points ahead of Arsenal with a win before they play Newcastle at St James’ Park on Monday night.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Kane said: “It was a big night tonight. There was pressure on us in front of our fans, but we delivered. Delighted with the win. It is always nice to win a derby.

“I think it was the best atmosphere at the new stadium. We could feel it in the build-up.”
