Harry Kane has stated that Nuno Espirito Santo is a "great manager" following his appointment as Tottenham head coach.
Following a long process that took 72 days, Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici finally landed Jose Mourinho's replacement with the former Wolves boss confirmed in the hotseat last Wednesday.
Signing a two-year deal in N17, the Portuguese has now started work at Hotspur Way alongside a number of the squad with pre-season training commencing.
Kane is one of the players still away on international duty at Euro 2020 and he's only likely to return in the week leading up the the league opener vs Man City due to England's run to the final four of the competition.
Admitting in an interview with talkSPORT that he has not spoken to his new Spurs boss, the striker has delivered his verdict on Espirito Santo and praised the job he did at Wolves.
“Whenever a new manager comes in, I guess there’s a level of excitement around the club. Obviously, I’ve not been there and not had any contact with him," he explained.
“I’m away with England now and my full focus is on here. Hopefully, we’ve got a week left.
“He’s a great manager and did a great job at Wolves and got them playing a really good way.
“Let’s get back and I’m sure we’ll be in contact after the tournament.”
One man who he has been in contact with recently is former boss Mourinho.
Hitting another level under the 58-year-old at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the goals and assists flowed, Kane has revealed that he has been exchanging messages with the new Roma head coach.
“He’s great, he’s been texting me as well,” admitted the 27-year-old. “It’s common knowledge we have a great relationship and got on really well.
“I really respect him as a manager and person. I wish him all the best at Roma. It is great to have one of the best managers in the world on your side.
“I will always respect him and hopefully be in contact with him for the rest of my career.”
Kane's future has been a major talking point over the past few months with Tottenham once again missing out on a Champions League place.
Amid reports of a big-money move to Man City ahead of the summer deadline, new managing director of football Paratici told Sky in Italy that Tottenham are intent on keeping him at the club.
Asked about the comments from the Italian, Kane said: "Of course as a player you want to be wanted, you want to feel like you’re loved, which I do.
“I haven’t had the chance to talk to any of these people yet. I’m sure we’ll get to know each other after the tournament, have a phone call or two once I get a week or two of holiday.
“To get praise from big people from football is great, it gives you confidence, it gives you motivation so of course it’s nice to hear.”
