Harry Kane explains the attitude in Spurs' dressing room at half-time during Olympiacos clash

Harry Kane has revealed how the Tottenham dressing room reacted to trailing 2-1 to Olympiacos at half-time in the Champions League, insisting the squad was calm.

Jose Mourinho's first home match in charge of Spurs did not get off to a good start as the Greek side stormed to a 2-0 lead after just 20 minutes, putting the North London's side hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition in jeopardy.

Dele Alli pulled one back just before the interval to provide Spurs with a platform to build upon in the second half, which Kane explained led to a relaxed atmosphere at the break.

"Obviously it was a disappointing start, we didn't come out with any energy at all really, and they obviously got the goal, put us under a bit of pressure, then got the second. It was an uphill battle from there," he told BT Sport.

"But Dele did well to get that goal before half-time, it changed the momentum and the second half we came out on the front foot, got the goal we needed and it obviously feels good to have qualified.

"It was more calm in the dressing room, especially when we’d just scored and got back into the game. We needed to be calmer on the ball, didn't have to rush it, there was still 45 minutes left so we didn't have to get the goal straight away.

"We knew we couldn't get any worse than what we played so we went out there with a bit more freedom, enjoy it a bit more and that's definitely what we did."

Kane was also informed that his brace made him the fastest ever player in Champions League history to score 20 goals in the competition, taking just 24 games and overtaking Alessandro Del Piero, but the striker made it clear the result was the most important thing.

"Not a bad player to beat! Like I always say, it’s great to score the goals but tonight was all about qualifying, no matter how we did it.

"We would have liked to have played better but in this industry, you've just got to win and find a way, we've done that so we should just enjoy it, recover well and hopefully keep this momentum into Saturday."
