Harry Kane equals England World Cup record with stunning header against Croatia

  • Harry Kane scored a penalty and a header in the first half of England’s World Cup opener against Croatia on Wednesday.
  • Kane’s first goal was a retaken penalty after his initial effort was saved by goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic - it was subsequently determined that Livakovic was off his line and a Croatian player had entered the penalty area too early.
  • Kane’s second goal was far more convincing as he produced a thunderous header from a corner that flew into the bottom corner of the net.
  • Kane has now scored 10 World Cup goals in his career, drawing him level with Gary Lineker as England’s highest scorer in the tournament’s history.
  • Kane scored six goals in 2018, two in 2022, and now has two already in the 2026 World Cup.
