Harry Kane delivers verdict on Ange Postecoglou and answers ‘regrets’ over quitting league leaders Tottenham

Harry Kane believes Ange Postecoglou is just what Tottenham needed and says he loves seeing his old team doing so well.

Spurs are top of the Premier League after an unbeaten start to the season and Kane feels supporters should be excited about their prospects under Postecoglou.

Kane is preparing to return to the Tottenham training ground with England this week, when he will be able to say his goodbyes to former Spurs colleagues after his summer move to Bayern Munich.

The England captain has said previously he felt standards slipped at Spurs in recent years. But he has hailed the impact of Postecoglou since his appointment in the summer.

“Spurs are doing pretty well. It's great to see," said Kane.

“The manager is doing great for them with the way they're playing, the fans are right behind the team and it's definitely what they needed after the last few years.

“I'll always keep an eye on Spurs and the Premier League. Of course, there's still a long way to go, but as the manager said, there's no reason why the fans shouldn't be excited and happy with the way things are going. Hopefully, they can continue.

“I am a Tottenham fan and I would love to see Tottenham do well. There is no team in the Premier League I want to win other than Tottenham.”

Kane, who is set to captain England against Australia at Wembley on Friday, admits he finds it “a little bit strange” watching Spurs on television from Germany.

But despite Spurs being talked about as early title contenders following their strong start, he insists he will “never regret” his decision to join Bayern.

“I was there for so long and all my friends are still there, even the coaches and staff, so sometimes it's a little bit strange,” said Kane, who has scored nine goals in his first 10 matches in Germany.

“But in football and life, when you go onto a new adventure, you're focused and attention is on that.

“I'm trying to find houses, learn the language, get to know my new team and staff at Bayern Munich. Your attention just gets taken away. Maybe at first it was strange to see them playing and me not being there. I have got to put all my attention on Bayern Munich and to make us as successful as possible.

“I am here, I am excited and it will always be a decision I never regret. I’m proud to have started the way I have.”

Kane has revealed he wants to play at Euro 2028, when he will be weeks away from his 35th birthday, after it was confirmed the tournament would be played on home soil in the UK and Ireland.

The final in five years will be held at Wembley, where the striker believes England have “unfinished business” after defeat there in the Euro 2020 Final.

Asked if he expected to play in the tournament, Kane said: “Hopefully. I am aiming to still be around by then.

“It is still a few years away, but I am a player who, at the moment, feels as good as I have ever felt and, yes, I would like to think my career will go to my late thirties - at least. As we know, in football a lot of things can change quickly, but at the moment I feel really good. If you ask me now, of course I hope I am there and it means I am still performing at a high level, but you never know. We will see.”
