Harry Kane could spoil move for Liverpool icon as Man City start talks over £100m transfer

Liverpool are pressing ahead with their summer transfer window plans as Alexis Mac Allister prepares to become the first new signing made by Jurgen Klopp and his Anfield recruitment team.

As reported, the Reds are one step closer to snapping-up the Brighton playmaker and have now booked him in for his medical ahead of that proposed switch. However, that is by no means the only high-profile business going on in the Premier League right now as Liverpool's rivals set sights on their own incomings before next season.

Here, we take a closer look at what fellow top-four contenders are reportedly getting up to;

Manchester City

England midfielder Declan Rice is hot-property at the moment and Liverpool are not the only elite side attempting to bolster their engine room for next season. Rice, 24, is expected to depart West Ham when the market reopens as Manchester City, seemingly, find themselves near to the front of that queue.

Reports from The Guardian indicate Pep Guardiola has spoken to Rice directly amid further interest from title rivals Arsenal and others. Rice could, possibly, set City or the Gunners back £100m-plus.

Elsewhere, amid intense speculation over his future, FA Cup final hero Ilkay Gundogan has been linked with a move back to Borussia Dortmund when his contract expires. Gundogan, 32, has less than a month to run on his agreement at the Etihad Stadium with no development over an extension.

Manchester United

After signing Casemiro last summer, Manchester United are interested in proposed Liverpool target Mason Mount as the scrap to sign him from Chelsea continues. However, there are further options on the table for United as they 'consider' a move for Bayern Munich player Leon Goretzka.

That's according to reports from Sky Sports in Germany and would be entirely dependant on Rice going to Bayern. Rice has several potential suitors from the Premier League alone.

Elsewhere, radio station talkSPORT claim United are 'in talks' to sell Dean Henderson to Nottingham Forest after he spent last season on loan with the Midlands club. Henderson - capped once by England - has struggled to nudge his way past David de Gea in the pecking order.

Newcastle United

Newcastle have been offered a green light to pursue Liverpool-linked Perr Schuurs from Serie A outfit Torino after his agent, George Gardi, provided an update on the Netherlands centre-back. As quoted by journalist Fabrizio Romano on social media, Schuurs is open to a new challenge.

Gardi said: "His ambition is to play at the highest level of European football. He's had an amazing season, there are several clubs interested in him. We will discuss with Torino if it's a decision that is positive for all parties. It could be an option to evaluate this summer."

Of course, Newcastle can offer Schuurs a ticket to the Champions League next season, while Liverpool will have to compete in the Europa League after narrowly missing out on a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Arsenal

Arsenal could sign mooted target Ivan Fresneda for £17m as speculation over his future continues to spiral. Having earned rave reviews for his performances at Real Valladolid this season, the talented Spaniard has top clubs across Europe on red alert - including the Gunners and Borussia Dortmund.

Reports from The Daily Mail note down Fresneda's halved release clause. He plays as a right-back primarily and has been capped by Spain nine times at U19 international level.

Chelsea

Incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino is ready to make Brighton starlet Moises Caicedo his priority target for the summer window and it could take the Blues around £80m to secure his signature. Caicedo, 21, has been linked with Liverpool, too, as they prepare to snap-up his midfield partner Mac Allister.

Reports from The Guardian underline Chelsea's interest. Elsewhere, winger Christian Pulisic will assess his future at Stamford Bridge after being linked with a would-be move to Italian giants Juventus.

In an update on his future, USA international Pulisic said: "We're obviously going to have to see what happens and it's obviously still early. As of right now, I'm a Chelsea player and I plan to go back. But a lot of things can happen. A lot of things can change."

Tottenham

England captain Harry Kane is reportedly subject to strong interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid as they eye a replacement for long-serving Karim Benzema when the market reopens. It has already been confirmed Benzema is on his way after 14 seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu.

As for Kane, meanwhile, he only has 12 months left to run on his Tottenham contract as Real prepare to launch an offer for his goal-scoring services. United are, also, understood to be in the market for Kane as the north Londoners hold out for £100m if they actually allow the striker to leave.

After departing Liverpool this summer, the ever-popular Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino has been mooted as one possible replacement for Benzema should he move on. Firmino scored in his last two outings for the Reds as clubs from Europe consider a swoop for him.
