Harry Kane confirms Tottenham and Man City transfer decision

Manchester City's hopes of signing Harry Kane this summer are over.

After Kane declared his intention to leave Tottenham at the start of the summer to pursue more chances of winning silverware, City were installed as favourites to sign the England captain.

Kane expressed his intention to play alongside Kevin De Bruyne, and City were ready to pay a club record fee for his services.

However, Tottenham remained determined not to lose their talisman, and were firm about an asking price that City were not willing to meet. Reports of a £160m bid were strongly denied by City.

Now, with a week left in the transfer window, Kane has issued a statement confirming he will not be leaving Tottenham in this window.

Writing on Twitter, he said: "It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I've had in the last few weeks.

"I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100 per cent focused on helping the team achieve success."

Kane missed the Premier League opener with City for fitness reasons, according to his new manager Nuno Espirito Santo, but came off the bench in their win at Wolves at the weekend.

City must now decide whether to look for an alternative in the transfer market with a week to go until deadline day.
