Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen was sent a cacophony of support yesterday following his incident during the Euro 2020 match between Denmark and Finland.
During the opening match of the Dane’s campaign in Copenhagen, the now Inter Milan man collapsed and received CPR on the pitch, leading to the game being suspended.
Thankfully, the 29-year-old is now “awake” and “stable”, although that did nothing to ease the shocking scenes at the Parken Stadium, the home of FC Copenhagen.
Whilst many were waiting for news to filter through concerning Eriksen’s condition, the vast majority of those sent messages of support and love, all hoping that the midfielder would make a recovery.
Amongst those to share their thoughts was current Tottenham duo Harry Kane and Dele Alli, who Eriksen played with in his time in North London on a number of occasions.
Midfielder Alli elected to take to Instagram, sharing a picture of the duo during Spurs training and captioned: “My world stopped today. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family brother. God bless you.”
Meanwhile, Kane went down a similar route, posting on Twitter: “Chris. I’m sending all my love to you and your family. Stay strong mate.”
Former Manchester United and Chelsea striker also dedicated his opening goal to his Inter Milan teammate on what was a hugely emotional and distressing day for the entire footballing world.
Eriksen remains in hospital following the incident, with news of his recovery hopefully forthcoming in the next few days.
The Dane made 305 appearances for Spurs in a memorable five-and-a-half year spell. He scored 69 goals in that time before departing for Inter Milan last January.
