Harry is 'going along' with Meghan Markle but Queen may have reservations, says expert

Prince Harry announced a very exciting new project this week - a TV series focusing on mental health in partnership with Oprah Winfrey.

It's a cause close to the dad-to-be's heart and something he has campaigned about passionately so the topic wasn't a surprise.

But the partnership was slightly unexpected, and one royal expert believes the celebrity partnership is another example of the ' Meghan Markle affect'.

Duncan Larcombe told the Sun : "It's obviously another very clear sign, Harry is going along with Meghan rather than the other way around.

"These new charities and projects he’s got involved with the partnership with Oprah Winfrey is more evidence of 'The Meghan Effect'.

What Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal baby statement means and what will actually happen

"It's evidence of Meghan bringing her own into the relationship. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. Clearly Meghan is no shrinking violet."

Duncan believes the Queen would "have reservations" with members of the family endorsing particular celebs.

He claims that blurring celebrity and royal roles before hasn't ended well, highlighting the criticism Sarah Ferguson came under.

However he thinks the Queen will ultimately support his new Apple TV project because she is extremely fond of Harry.

Princess Eugenie trolled after making embarrassing mistake in Instagram post

He says Harry is one of the only royals who has ever managed to persuade the Queen to step out of her comfort zone.

Back in 2016 he managed to convince her to join him to record a video message to the Obamas to promote his Invictus Games.

She agreed and the hilarious video, ending with Prince Harry's 'mic drop', was a huge hit around the world.

Speaking to the BBC at the time, he said: "The biggest pressure for me was wanting to ask her but not wanting to put pressure on her.

"She is my boss, she's all of our bosses. She's the head of the Armed Forces

"If you've got the ability to be able to ask the Queen to up one on the Americans then why not?

"She was more than happy to oblige."
