Harry Cochrane seals Hearts transfer exit as he signs for another Scottish club

Harry Cochrane has signed for Queen of the South after leaving Hearts.

The young midfielder rejected the offer of a new contract at Tynecastle after falling out of contention under Robbie Neilson.

He spent the majority of his last couple of years in Gorgie out on loan at Dunfermline and Montrose respectively.

And now he’s joined the Doonmahers for an undisclosed fee.

Despite his deal expiring, the capital club were still due training compensation for Cochrane should he sign for another club in the UK.

And an agreement has been reached with the Palmerston club to allow Cochrane to make the switch.

Cochrane burst on to the scene as a 16 year old back in 2017.

After being included in the first team squad for a pre-season trip to Dublin and Belfast, Cochrane was thrust int the spotlight under Craig Levein and netted his first senior goal as the Jambos smashed Celtic’s unbeaten domestic run.

Cochrane fired home the opener in a 4-0 win for Hearts and looked set for a bright future in maroon and white.

However, injuries and form meant his first team opportunities were limited as time went on and a change of scene this summer seemed to suit both parties.

And Cochrane will be part of the Queens squad for this season's Championship campaign. Manager Allan Johnston said: “We are delighted to have been able to bring Harry to the club. He is a lively and enthusiastic youngster who has a high profile for someone of his age.

"He has been training with us for a few weeks now and is just desperate to play football. He has been working hard on building up his physique so will only get stronger.

"I think he will be a signing that will excite the fans so I’m pleased all parties have been able to reach an agreement and he can get on with being part of the squad”.
