Harry Cochrane and Harry Stone leave Hearts on loan with duo in need of regular first team football

Hearts duo Harry Cochrane and Harry Stone have been loaned out to Montrose and Spartans respectively until January.

19-year-old old Cochrane has struggled for regular game time since bursting onto the scene as a 16-year-old and endured an injury-hit time of it Tynecastle before a temporary switch to Dunfermline.

Now the midfielder has been farmed out to League One Montrose, managed by Stewart Petrie, to get regular game time while continuing to train with Robbie Neilson’s squad during the week.

With Andy Halliday, Andy Irving, Olly Lee, Peter Haring and youngster Scott McGill ahead of Cochrane in the pecking order, he’s taken the opportunity to get competitive action under his belt for the next two months.

Cochrane has made 33 appearances for Hearts so far, scoring once.

Stone is staying local by joining up with Lowland League outfit Spartans.

The highly-rated goalkeeper is expected to become the club’s long-term number one, but until then needs first-team experience to continue his development alongside current first choice Craig Gordon.

Stone recently penned a new deal with the Jambos, committing his future to the club until at least 2023.

He kept a clean sheet in his only appearance for Stirling Albion after joining the Binos for one-match on an emergency loan deal, keeping out League Two title favourites Queen’s Park.
