Harry Arter remains an injury concern for Slovakia playoff as Aaron Connolly misses Ireland training

Harry Arter remains Ireland’s chief injury concern ahead of Thursday’s Euro 2020 playoff with Slovakia.

The Nottingham Forest midfielder had a scan in England today on the thigh problem he shipped in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Bristol City.

Stephen Kenny and his medical team are awaiting an update from the Championship club later before ruling him in or out ahead of tomorrow’s team flight to Bratislava.

Brighton forward Aaron Connolly was the only other player to miss today’s first Irish training session of the week ahead of the big game.

He was in the dugout while team-mates trained at FAI headquarters but the FAI said the Galway man was just being rested and is not an injury concern.

Skipper Seamus Coleman withdrew from the squad last night after shipping a hamstring injury in Everton’s clash with Brighton Saturday.

Cyrus Christie was called up to replace him while Kevin Long is in for crocked Darragh Lenihan and both trained with the squad today.
