Harry and Sandra Redknapp awkwardly celebrated WRONG wedding anniversary a year early

Football legend Harry Redknapp and wife Sandra have revealed that due to a dates mix up they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary a year early.

Harry and Sandra tied the knot in June 1968, making this year their 55th year of marriage, but the couple awkwardly mixed up dates and last year sat down to a lovely celebratory meal before it dawned on them that they'd got their dates wrong.

The loved-up couple, who are parents to two sons including football and sports pundit Jamie Redknapp, confessed to the funny mishap in their joint book 'When Harry Met Sandra'.

The pair revealed their celebration even included a cake with the number 55 on it, which they had to keep quiet about.

Whilst promoting his book 'When Harry Met Sandra' last year, the former football star revealed he had muddled his dates when planning their anniversary celebrations: "We went out and celebrated our 55th wedding anniversary, then realised it was 54 years.

"I got a card with 55 on. Someone even brought us a cake with 55 on it! We still ate the cake but didn't tell them."

Sandra added: "We had to pretend. We’ll celebrate for real next year."

The couple, who will celebrate the 55th milestone anniversary this year instead, are happily married more than five decades since they tied the knot.

The couple's relationship became famous after Harry entered the jungle for ITV's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! in 2018, which saw him open up about his missing wife Sandra.

The three-week stint was the longest period they’ve ever been apart, and when they were reunited onscreen, he broke down in tears winning over viewers for the sweet moment.

Last year Harry admitted to his softer side as he revealed he "couldn't be without" his other half. Speaking to us last year, he shared: "I really do love her to bits, I can’t tell you. If I’m out and playing golf I’ll ring her halfway round. I couldn’t be without her, I dread to think."

The couple have also opened up about their five decades of marriage in their book, including Sandra's devastating miscarriage and the 1990 Italian car crash in which Harry was feared dead.

When Harry Met Sandra is now out in paperback and on sale here.
