Harry and Meghan to dramatically change how the public learns about their lives

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will dramatically change the way the public learns about their lives.

Following their stepping away from their senior positions within the royal family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will "reshape and broaden access to their work", a statement on their website reads.

They will no longer be part of the Royal Rota system, which allows the country's best know royal correspondents exclusive access to official engagements.

Instead, Harry and Meghan will "Engage with grassroots media organisations and young, up-and-coming journalists."

They will also: "Invite specialist media to specific events/engagements to give greater access to their cause-driven activities, widening the spectrum of news coverage;

"Provide access to credible media outlets focused on objective news reporting to cover key moments and events;

"Continue to share information directly to the wider public via their official communications channels."

As well as offering more time to less established media outlets, the Duke and Duchess will continue to run their Instagram account.

"They look forward to continuing their use of  social media  and believe that their updated media approach will enable them to share more, with you, directly," the statement on their website continues.

While their statement does not explicitly express their dissatisfaction with the way their lives are reported in the UK media, it is implied.

It continues: "Their Royal Highnesses recognise that their roles as members of the Royal Family are subject to interest, and they welcome accurate and honest media reporting as well as being held to account if appropriate.

"Equally, like every member of society, they also value privacy as individuals and as a family."

In April last year the Sussexes split their household from Kensington Palace, setting up their own at Buckingham Palace with a separate head of communications and their own SussexRoyal Instagram account.

Ever since they have used the account to share information directly with the public.

Amongst these was an emotional video of clips of their lives from over the past year, set to Coldplay.

It shows Harry holding son Archie, who was born in May, in a new picture thought to have been taken in Canada, where the family are taking time out.

They are also shown during official engagements, and alongside other royals, in the pictures and video.

In a caption alongside the images, they thanked the public for their support and voiced their hopes for the coming year.
