Harry and Meghan's kids 'unlikely to get titles' after eviction drama, says expert

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children Archie and Lilibet are "unlikely to get titles" following their eviction from Frogmore Cottage, according to a royal expert.

The Sussexes say they were "requested to vacate" their Windsor home, which was a gift from Harry’s late grandmother, the Queen.

It is said that the home has now been offered to disgraced Prince Andrew after the King insisted he must leave his current 30-room home Royal Lodge.

The late Queen's death saw the Sussex children move up the line of succession and as the grandchildren of the new monarch King Charles, they have a right to be known as prince/princess and have HRH status.

But since coming to the throne almost six months ago, there has been no official announcement regarding their titles.

And now with the drama following their removal of their UK home, royal expert and author Richard Fitzwilliam has spoken out on future titles for the children.

He told The Express : "Mr Fitzwilliams said: "It means Harry and Meghan’s children Archie and Lili are highly unlikely to be granted titles."

He also added that it would mean the couple, and their children's "visits to Britain were few".

The children and grandchildren of a sovereign have the automatic right to the title HRH and prince or princess due to protocols created by King George V in 1917.

King Charles will have to issue a Letters Patent to change Archie and Lilibet's status if he decides to scrap their titles in line with his vision for a slimmed down monarchy.

Meanwhile another royal expert has said that King Charles' move to request Harry and Meghan leave Frogmore Cottage is a "big mistake".

According to royal expert and historian Dr Tessa Dunlop, many in the UK have been "gleeful" after learning of the King's tough stance with the Sussexes.

But she believes the move has gone against that of his late mother the Queen, who tried to keep Harry on board - and she adds that the "optics are terrible".

She told the Mirror: "A broad-shouldered confident monarchy would have weathered the storm. With a coronation around the corner, the King has bigger fish to fry.

"Instead, by evicting the couple from the Queen's generous gift of Frogmore Cottage King Charles is going directly against the conciliatory style of Her late Majesty.

"Worse, he has conflated the problem of the Sussexes with that of Prince Andrew by asking the latter to relinquish his larger home, the Royal Lodge, and move into Frogmore Cottage. Big mistake. The optics are terrible."

She added: "The late Queen tried hard to keep Harry on board. Frogmore Cottage was part of that package. She was likewise lenient with Andrew.

"Charles, in his effort to stamp authority on his reign, has undone those efforts, and by conflating the separate issues of Harry and Andrew through the prism of Frogmore Cottage it looks like our King cares more for his disgraced brother, than his conflicted son and foreign daughter-in-law."
