Harry and Meghan's close actor pal Tyler Perry lands 'lucrative TV deal'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's good pal Tyler Perry has reportedly landed a huge deal which will see him take charge of the cable channel BET.

The 53-year-old actor and rumoured godfather of Princess Lilibet will reportedly be given control over BET Media Group, which includes networks such as VH1.

US media reports claim that Tyler's new deal comes as Paramount is apparently losing money, the Mirror reports.

The actor, who has starred in Netflix's Don't Look up in 2021, Gone Girl in 2014 and the 2009 Star Trek remake, is believed to be close with the royal couple who he has previously publicly supported in the media.

Tyler Perry allegedly gave the Sussexes one of his homes and personal security while they struggled for a place to stay during the Covid19 pandemic (Netflix)

It was previously claimed that the star gave the Duke and Duchess of Sussex his house and personal security during the pandemic after they were left with nowhere else to go following their exit from Canada.

Speaking to Oprah Winfrey in 2021, Meghan explained: "We didn’t have a plan. We needed a house and [Perry] offered his security as well so it gave us breathing room to try to figure out what we were going to do."

Harry and Meghan later moved into their own nearby property in California.

The actor previously said that the couple were going through a "very difficult time" and that he had wanted to "support them" in any way possible.

Perry was also featured on the Sussexes' Netflix docuseries, in which he applauds Harry and Meghan for their decision to leave the Royal Family.

He said: "They just wanted to be free. They wanted to be free to love and be happy. I applauded that."

He also previously told the Today show about the beautiful relationship that Harry and Meghan share.

Speaking of their love, he said: "What I know about the two of them - and I wish the world knew - how much these two people love each other.

"They found each other, out of all these odds against them finding each other, they found each other.

"The love they have is really, really moving and I wanted to do anything I could to support them."

Comparing their relationship to his own love life goals, he said: "If I don't have that, what she and Harry have, I don't want it. That's really amazing."
