Harry and Meghan's royal baby dominates newspaper front pages around the world

Britain’s national newspapers today celebrated the birth of the royal baby – though a number chose not to lead with the story.

The Daily Mail led the way with a souvenir edition and 23 pages of royal baby reports.

A grinning Duke of Sussex was splashed across its front page along with the headline quote from his Windsor Castle statement announcing the birth: “This little thing is absolutely to die for!”

The Daily Mirror focused on Harry’s praise for Meghan, with the headline: “I’m so incredibly proud of my wife. This little thing is absolutely to die for…”

Other papers, however, offered a cooler perspective with their coverage of the birth.

The Daily Star had its own novel way of presenting the baby coverage, billing it: “American actress has baby. If you really don’t care read pages 1 to 6 and 8 to 48.”

The story was relegated to a teaser on the i front page, with the paper instead splashing on the United Nations warning that one million species are at risk of extinction worldwide.

Harry made the lead picture on The Times, but its main story was on the NHS beginning a global recruitment drive for nurses.
