Harry and Meghan mocked at Emmy Awards as they're roasted over Oprah interview

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were the butt of a few jokes during Sunday night's Emmy Awards ceremony.

While Netflix original The Crown may have been collecting the awards, the drama from the real-life Royal family provided some of the entertainment during the evening.

During his opening monologue at the star-studded event, comedian Cedric the Entertainer poked fun at Harry and Meghan - referencing the couple's infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey and addressing the race claims surrounding baby Archie.

Talking to a reduced crowd at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, the stand-up star made a few digs at the Royals as he hosted the glitzy show.

"As great as The Crown is, it pales in comparison to the real monarchy…" he told a star-studded audience.

"Ooooh I mean that Oprah interview with Prince Harry and Megan. That was the real tea right there, wasn’t it!?"

"Meghan must put it on that boy because he renounced his throne quicker than Eddie Murphy in Coming to America," the 57-year-old comedian continued to tease.

The comic, whose real name is Cedric Antonio Kyles, then went on the discuss the claims made by Meghan and Harry alleging that a member of the Royal family questioned how dark Archie's skin would be prior to his birth in 2019.

"I can't believe they were talking about that little baby like that, little Archie. How dark that little baby gonna be," he said.

"They need little Archie! Charles can't dance, who else going to teach them how to TikTok. I can just see it now, baby Archie with the Queen like, 'Come on Gammy'."

Dancing to laughing crowd, he continued: "The whole crown behind them like, "Ok your majesty, I see you."'

Harry and Meghan's sensational sit-down chat with Oprah caused shockwaves when it was released back in March.

Following its broadcast on television in both America and the UK, the Palace responded to the claims made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

A statement issued on behalf of the Queen read: "The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan. The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning.

"While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members."

In the fictional Royal world, The Crown enjoyed success at The Emmy Awards on Sunday - taking home four major gongs.

The Netflix series, which chronicles the history of the British royal family, scooped the prize for best drama on the night - giving the streaming giant its first ever victory in one of TV's biggest honours.

Olivia Colman was awarded the Emmy for best actress in a drama for her role of Queen Elizabeth II in the fourth season of the drama.

She becomes the second actress to win for a portrayal of the monarch on The Crown, with Claire Foy previously being crowned the winner in 2018.
