Harry and Meghan fans left seething as King Charles III's coronation to fall on Archie's birthday

A number of Meghan and Harry fans have been left seething after it was announced that King Charles III's coronation would fall on the same day as their son Archie Harrison's birthday. Last night (Oct 11), Buckingham Palace confirmed the King's coronation would take place on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

He will be crowned alongside Queen Consort, Camilla, at Westminster Abbey, with the ceremony being conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The news caused a stir among Sussex fans as many took to social media to vent their dismay at the ceremony coinciding with the royal couple's eldest son's fourth birthday, as reported by the Express.

@IrisTheeScholar tweeted: "So King Charles The Cruel has set his Coronation for the 6th of May next year... AKA his grandson Prince Archie of Sussex’s 4th birthday."

@Hrhpluggles questioned: "Is the King's coronation date the same as Archie's birthday deliberately?" @Music2patrice said: "Hmm, it is strange that the coronation is on Prince Archie's Birthday".

@JenniferEWatts added: "Royalists freak out when the Sussexes release a picture two days after the rest of the family or does anything when a birthday pic of the Cambridge kids is released, saying it overshadows them, but by all means schedule your coronation on Archie's birthday. The audacity."

But @AmayaRue1 suggested that the coronation date may have been an olive branch to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. She said: "Coronation day is Archie's birthday too. That for me symbolises that although the Royal family is an institution, family will always be family. I hope it's an olive branch from father to son and King to Prince."

@SisterAne1 typed: "The coronation of King Charles III. and Queen Camilla will take place on May 6th 2023 - the birthday of Archie. Great move Your Majesty."

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said the ceremony will "reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry."

It has not yet been confirmed whether Meghan and Harry will attend the ceremony. However, they were in attendance at the Queen's Jubilee and her state funeral in September.
