Harry and Meghan enjoying private family time in Canada with Archie ahead of royal baby's first Christmas

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending private family time in Canada, their spokesman confirmed tonight.

In a statement Harry and Meghan said the decision to base themselves in Canada “reflects the importance of this Commonwealth country to them both".

Their official spokesman said: “For security reasons we will not be releasing any further details and request that their privacy is respected.”

The Duke of Sussex has been a frequent visitor to Canada over many years, and it was also home to The Duchess for seven years before she became a member of the Royal Family.

The statement said: “They are enjoying sharing the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son.”

The details come after footage was released of Harry in a Santa delivering a touching Christmas message to the children of fallen British Forces' soldiers.

The Duke of Sussex wore a big white beard, festive suit and hat as he urged the youngsters to look out for one another.

In the message, shared by charity Scotty's Little Soldiers, he says: "Losing a parent is incredibly hard, but I know that every single one of you, by helping each other out, will have an amazing future ahead of you and you're going to be having a fantastic Christmas as well."
